Cen­tral Sports made an ex­cel­lent start to the 2019 Pre­mier­ship com­pe­ti­tion when they eas­i­ly took first in­nings over new­com­ers EYM at Fe­lic­i­ty yes­ter­day.

Bar­ba­di­ans Akeem Jor­dan 3/26 and Ryan Austin 3/26 bowled out EYM for 122 and in re­sponse, the Cen­tral team gath­ered 293 runs. Lead­ing the way was Wind­wards Is­lands play­er Ked­dy Lesporis with 71, while the in­form Vis­han Jagges­sar got 59 and Jesse Bootan 49. The game en­ters its sec­ond and fi­nal day to­day.

Down South, Pow­er­Gen had Queen’s Park in prob­lems in a low scor­ing en­counter. QPCC bat­ted first and made 124 all out with Isa­iah Ra­jah top scor­ing with 38. Spin­ner An­cil Bhag­gan was ex­cel­lent with 5/41, while Kavesh Kan­tas­ingh plucked 4/46. Pow­er­Gen then got to 162 for a lead of 38 runs on first in­nings. Jer­ron Mani­ram had the best score of 51. Spin­ner Akeal Ho­sein grabbed five and Vis­han Jagges­sar snared 5/66. Bat­ting a sec­ond time the Parkites end­ed on 22/3 – still 16 runs in the red with three wick­ets down.

Across at Wil­son Road, Clarke Road held the up­per hand against Mer­ry­boys. Both teams wit­nessed a minute’s si­lence in mem­o­ry of the fall­en Mer­ry­boys pres­i­dent Patrick Ram­per­sad. Mer­ry­boys bat­ting first made 169 all out with Mario Bel­con hit­ting a quick 80. St. Lu­cien Dal­ton Polius start­ed his sea­son well with 7/55. At the close Clarke Road was re­spond­ing strong­ly on 171/1 with Sean Siloch hit­ting the first cen­tu­ry of the sea­son, get­ting an un­beat­en 101.

Clarke Road as part of their youth de­vel­op­ment pol­i­cy, hand­ed caps to na­tion­al un­der-17 play­er Tariq Mo­hammed and na­tion­al un­der-19 play­er Justyn Gan­goo.

At Pierre Road, Rayad Em­rit stole the show, as he grabbed 4/22, to hus­tle out Vic­to­ry of 138. Comets closed on 186/9 with Jyd Goolie un­de­feat­ed on 68. Roshon Primus made 41 and Em­rit con­tributed 19.
