Young Sunshine Girls Experience Travel Hiccup

Jamaica’s Under-21 Sunshine Girls have experienced travel hiccups, resulting in a delay to their eventual arrival in Botswana for the Netball Youth World Cup.

“My understanding is that when the plane took off from Atlanta to Johannesburg, the plane developed mechanical problems and had to return to base (in Atlanta) and because of that it disturbed the overall travel of the team. Some went through Germany, some through London and some went directly to South Africa, but the team will be arriving in Botswana this evening,” (Wednesday) said Wayne Lewis, Communications Director for Netball Jamaica.

Lewis is hoping the team will be able to overcome this setback. “They jaded, tired and exhausted so I’m sure it’s going to take some time to get over this situation and start preparing for the tournament but I’m sure the coaching staff and management will get them to focus on what they are there for,” said Lewis.
